Turning 30: The Year of the Boy Mom

Writer's picture: JayceJayce

Well, I’m 30! And I have to admit, this milestone feels like it came with a lot more reflection than I expected. There’s something about turning 30 that makes you want to take stock of everything—how far you’ve come, where you’re headed, and all the little moments in between.

For me, this birthday was a special one. Not just because I’m entering a new decade of life, but because this is also “The Year of the Boy Mom”—the year where I’ve been completely immersed in the joys, challenges, and sleep-deprived days of caring for my little one. And to be honest, I’m loving it.

A New Chapter: Boy Mom Life at 30

I officially became a boy mom six months ago, and wow, what a ride it’s been. From sleepless nights to first giggles and every messy moment in between, my life has been consumed by baby snuggles and learning how to care for a tiny human in ways I never knew possible.

But what has surprised me the most about being a mom is how much I’ve grown, and how quickly. I used to think motherhood was all about the big moments—the first steps, the first words, and the big milestones. But I’ve learned that the magic is in the small things. The way he lights up when I pick him up from his nap. The sound of his laugh when we make silly faces. The way he stares at me like I’m the only person in the room.

And that’s what makes “The Year of the Boy Mom” feel so special—it’s the daily, quiet moments that you don’t always expect, but you wouldn’t trade for anything.

Reflection on My 20s: So Much Growth

My 20s were filled with a lot of change, growth, and learning. I found my career, got married, and started my journey toward motherhood. But honestly, the most transformative thing I’ve done so far is becoming a mom.

The first six months of my son’s life have been a whirlwind. There have been moments of pure joy, but also sleepless nights where I wondered if I’d ever sleep again. (Spoiler: I haven’t, but it’s fine.) But what I’ve come to realize is that my 20s were just the beginning of the foundation. 30 feels like the start of building the life I’ve always dreamed of—one that’s more balanced and rooted in what matters most: family.

What 30 Means for Me (and My Baby Boy)

So, as I look to the year ahead, I’m thinking about what “30” will look like for me—and for us as a family. We’re still figuring out the rhythms of parenthood, but I’m excited for the growth ahead. My son is learning new things every day, and so am I.

At 30, I’m focusing on simplicity, on being present with my baby, and on nurturing the relationships that matter most—especially the one with my husband, who has been my partner through every sleepless night and every heart-melting moment.

The changes are big, but they feel right. And I can’t wait to see what else 30 has in store.

A Toast to 30 (and to My Baby)

To all the parents out there, whether you’re deep in the infant stage or gearing up for your toddler years, I’m raising a glass (of coffee, because, obviously) to you. I’ve learned so much in these first six months of motherhood, and I know the lessons will keep coming. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.

Here’s to 30. Here’s to motherhood. Here’s to finding joy in the quiet moments. And here’s to embracing the changes, big and small, as we grow together.

With love and a diaper bag full of snacks,

Jayce
